If you’ve been using FLIC buttons for a while now, like me, then you probably have the same love-hate relationship with that quarter sized gadget that I do. On the good side, they are super simple, useful, tiny, and reliable. On the flip side, your phone has to be in range in order to use them because of their Bluetooth-to-app dependency. Ugg, that really sucks.. until now!
Shortcut Labs has finally answered our prayers with the Flic Hub. They’re running an Indiegogo campaign that’s already 700% over their fixed goal with 25 days left. What, what? That’s a big number and shows how important this feature is to the Flic ecosystem.
Why is the Flic Hub a big deal?
Simple – the hub will interact with all of your buttons (supports over 60 buttons so you can go nuts) WITHOUT the need of a Bluetooth connection to your phone. That’s right. Friends, family, and pets can all go on a button pushing rampage without worrying where the phone is. Not only that, the hub can control Wifi and IR connected devices. The possibilities are limitless and my wife can finally use the damn buttons without me being home with my phone. Way to go, Shortcut Labs!
Right now, the Flic Hub is available for pre-order for $109. I’ve ordered mine and can’t wait to see it in action.
Shipments should start some time in October. Stay tuned for vids on how I’m using the Flic buttons with Flic Hub in the coming months.
