Qualcomm makes the engine behind most smart watches and last week they teased an upcoming ~watch~ announcement. They’ll likely be introducing a new wearable chipsets for Android watches – FINALLY, it’s been over 2 years. The timing is inline with a handful of Google updates for their Wear OS – including fitness improvements to compete with Apple and Fitbit.
Takeaway – if you’re in the market for a new Android smartwatch, you might want to wait for the software and chip updates. Even if you stick with one of the current models, it’s likely they’ll be discounted ahead of the next generation watches.
