I’m not sure why this isn’t getting more chatter. Up to this point, the biggest gap in smart home lighting has been adequate outdoor options. Philips Hue is trying to fill the void with four new products shipping in July.
The possibilities are endless.
- Imagine you’re outside at night relaxing by the pool and someone calls, or texts. Just have the lights flash an alert.
- How about when you’re sleeping and an intruder steps on your porch. Warn them away with red spot lights illuminating the yard.
- Maybe you’re outside cooking bbq in the backyard and someone knocks no the front door. You may not hear it, but your lights can alert you.
I can’t wait to set up mine and give life to my yard.
Philips Hue will also be releasing a floodlight replacement, Ludere Outdoor Security light, that connects to your existing Hue bridge. Unfortunately, it’s a white-bulb only floodlight, but still has all the scheduling and app controls you expect from Hue.
