Presence, from Netatmo, is the newest outdoor floodlight replacement to hit the market. Going up against Kuna, it acts as both a security camera (wifi connectivity) and traditional outdoor floodlight. I’m a fan of the mid-century modern design over Kuna’s traditional style and plan on ordering mine later this year. You can pre-order now for $299.
If Presence is like the other Netatmo products (I own their weather station), it’s going to be well-crafted and supported by a fantastic app. Before I get too excited, however, it needs to have IFTTT or SmartThings support before I’ll take the plunge. Also, I’m not sure yet how I feel about the lack of cloud storage and limited field of view. Hmm. Others are complaining about the lack of 2-way audio, but my application would not require that. That seems more suited for the Ring doorbell.
